Job summary

Merom Generating Station is seeking an Electrician to independently install, troubleshoot, test, repair, and maintain a wide range of electrical systems supporting a large coal-fired power plant. The role requires coordination with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams to diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safe plant operation.

The position emphasizes safety culture, detailed documentation, and training of apprentices, with rotating shifts and travel as needed to

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Four years with an electric utility or similar industry with strong electrical maintenance background.
• Broad knowledge of installation, testing, repair and maintenance of power plant electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots or repairs and performs maintenance on electrical equipment at the generating station (boilers, turbines, switches, MCCs, etc.).
• Installs and makes equipment available for use.
• Ensures compliance with Plant Clearance Permit System.
• Maintains records and reports on repairs and maintenance.
• Provides on-the-job training to apprentices and less experienced staff.
• Promotes safe practices and participates in safety meetings.
