Job summary

City Utilities of Springfield is seeking a dependable janitorial technician to perform cleaning, minor maintenance, and outdoor yard care at the power station and surrounding areas.

Applicants should have a high school education or equivalent, at least one year of janitorial equipment experience, six months’ industrial and lawn equipment operation, a valid Class F driver’s license, and the ability to work safely around machinery; shift work and safety-sensitive duties may apply.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent preferred; one year of janitorial equipment experience required.
• Six months of industrial and lawn equipment operation experience will be considered.
• Experience cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms in an industrial setting or show strong custodial aptitude.

Responsibilities

• General care, maintenance, and janitorial upkeep of assigned area including floors, windows, lavatories, and equipment.
• Remove trash and maintain inventory of janitorial supplies.
• Yard/outdoor care: mowing, pruning, spraying, weed eating, fertilizing, snow removal.
• Paint, minor carpentry, replace light bulbs, operate and maintain equipment.
