Job summary

Indianapolis Power & Light Company is seeking a Controls Person with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude to test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain power plant control systems. The role involves reading electrical drawings, ladder logic, and P&I diagrams, with responsibilities in maintenance of breakers, motors, relays, and CEMS equipment.

Candidates with an associate degree in electrical engineering technology or Journeyman electrician license are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with strong mechanical/electrical aptitude.
• Associate degree or equivalent training in electrical engineering technology preferred.
• Licensed Electrician Journeyman level highly regarded.
• Experience with Emerson Ovation Distributed Controls System training is a plus.
• Ability to interpret electrical/electronic drawings and control diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Test, inspect, calibrate, troubleshoot, maintain, repair and replace power plant electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
• Work with control systems such as Electro-Hydraulic Control, Turbine Supervisory Controls, and Boiler & Furnace Safety & Shutdown System.
• Interpret ladder logic, Boolean and SAMA diagrams, and read P&I drawings.
• Perform preventative maintenance on breakers, motors, relays, and switchgear (4kV-480V).
• Maintain and troubleshoot CEMS equipment and emissions monitoring.
