Job summary

UAB is seeking a Boiler Operator to operate and maintain campus and hospital boiler systems, ensuring safe, reliable steam and hot water supply. The role covers routine preventive maintenance, testing, calibration, and documentation of operations and test results.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of experience with boilers, combustion controls, and water treatment. It involves rotating shifts, 24/7 coverage, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of related experience operating and maintaining boilers and boiler support equipment.
• Experience with boiler water testing and chemical feed systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and inspect boilers and support systems for safe, reliable, and efficient performance.
• Maintain and repair boilers, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
• Record operational data and maintenance actions per standards and procedures.
• Read blueprints and manufacturer specs to support plant operations.
