Job summary

Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC) seeks an Auxiliary Operator to ensure the safe, efficient operation of all auxiliary equipment and boilers at the Stony Brook Power Plant in Ludlow, MA. You will monitor systems, follow procedures, and be the eyes and ears of the plant floor under supervision.

The role requires an active Massachusetts First-Class Fireman's License OR a Third-Class Engineer's License, strong safety discipline, and the ability to respond quickly to

Qualifications

• Licensing: Massachusetts First-Class Fireman's License OR Third-Class Engineer's License.
• Technical knowledge of steam boilers, pumps, heat exchanging equipment, cooling systems and auxiliaries.
• Safety-first mindset with ability to follow procedures during normal operations and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operate all auxiliary equipment and boilers safely and efficiently, following operating procedures.
• Patrol and inspect equipment, recognize abnormal conditions, and verify automatic start of standby equipment.
• Manually control flows, levels, temperatures, speeds, and pressures when required.
• Take immediate corrective actions to prevent damage or injury; escalate uncorrectable conditions.
• Isolate equipment for maintenance and restore to service; maintain accurate logs of temperatures, pressures, fluid levels, and other metrics.
