Job summary

AMD in Austin, TX is seeking a Power Feature Enablement Systems Engineer to lead cross-functional efforts from pre-silicon planning to end-of-life. The role demands breadth in power, performance, and collaboration, with the ability to influence decisions and guide teams across design, firmware, and system validation.

The ideal candidate will own power-management feature definitions, work with architects to set objectives, and drive mitigations for performance per watt.

Qualifications

• Understand system-level power trade-offs across hardware, firmware, and software.
• Knowledge of CPU/GPU/Memory/NPU power and SW power management.
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
• Familiarity with PC architecture and data collection hygiene.
• Experience with APU/CPU system performance analysis and micro-architectural power management.
• Proven ability to deliver large cross-functional technical deliverables.
• Experience in fast-paced matrixed multi-site environments.
• Experience in SoC design, validation, or power optimization.

Responsibilities

• Enable power management features from design to silicon validation, firmware integration, and system deployment.
• Collaborate with Power Architects to set power and performance attainment objectives and define features.
• Drive inputs for product-specific performance/watt strategies, risk identification and mitigation.
• Define, validate, enable, and integrate power and performance management features (C-state, P-state, IP power mgmt).
• Lead cross-functional teams in triage, debugging, and resolution of power feature issues.
• Engage with leadership to integrate deliverables with project timelines.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams on program test and debug activities and process improvements.
