Job summary

Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is seeking an Associate Power Operation Engineer Journey Level to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant transmission and generation operations for SMUD and the BANC area. The role supports real-time engineering, EIM operations, and adherence to NERC/WECC standards.

This journey-level position requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience, with knowledge of CAISO/WEIM/EDAM and the ability to work with minimal supervision on

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, accredited program.
• At least three (3+) years of progressively responsible experience in power operations engineering or transmission system planning.
• Knowledge of NERC/WECC reliability criteria; CAISO WEIM and EDAM familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Participates in assigned tasks to meet unit goals and adhere to SMUD standards and policies.
• Ensures bulk power system reliability and secure delivery of power to load centers; analyzes line loadings, voltages and contingencies.
• Prepares and maintains SOPs and guidelines for bulk power system operations; supports transmission and generation issues.
