Join Seattle City Light as a Power Marketer, where you will manage energy marketing, optimize resource allocations, and ensure compliance with operational standards. Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation’s largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. We are seeking Power Marketers to join our Power Operations & Marketing team. This team collaborates with our generation and transmission teams to schedule the operations of our hydro resources and power purchase contracts to reliably and cost effectively serve Seattle City Light's electric load while meeting environmental considerations. Their work includes marketing surplus energy, transmission, and capacity into the wholesale energy market to maximize value and minimize rates for our customers-owners.
The Power Marketers will either work on shift as part of the Real-Time (RT) Power Marketing desk or serve as a combination Forward Power Marketer and Day Ahead Cash Trader, depending on current business needs and fit of the successful candidate. The RT Power Marketing desk ensures that the bulk power demand of our customer-owners is met and sells excess generation capacity, energy, and transmission paths on an hourly basis in the bilateral market. The RT desk also bids and submits base schedules into the CAISO Energy imbalance Market. The Forward Power Marketer – Day Ahead Cash Trader role leads in identifying, evaluating, and structuring surplus and deficit energy, transmission, and capacity positions. This position also provides operations expertise to the Power Management Division and evaluates Requests for Proposals (“RFPs”) and Requests for Bids (“RFBs”), providing data-driven recommendations to Power Management leadership. This position will report to the Real Time Marketing Supervisor.

Requires a minimum of three years of experience in wholesale energy marketing or operations, resource planning and/or risk management and a bachelor's degree in business administration, mathematics, finance, economics, engineering, or related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class.)

The full salary range for this position is $58.26to $101.38 per hour.
