Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to create, support and audit programs that reinforce our safety culture across the Power Market. This entry‑level role emphasizes strong field collaboration and program compliance.

You will assist in developing, reviewing and communicating the SSSP, conduct hazard inspections, incidents investigations and training while upholding OSHA/MSHA standards. Relocation to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30, 500 and 510 certifications are required.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work without sponsorship.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal OSHA requirements.
• Certification as Safety Professional or EMT preferred.
• Experience with Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, review, updating, and communication of the SSSP to subcontractors.
• Collaborate with the craft daily to promote safety program buy-in and ownership.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure policy compliance.
• Plan and problem-solve with field operations using leading indicators.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance and with our policies.
• Assist with first aid and liaison with EMS and clinics.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientations.
• Review work plans and packs prior to start of work.
