Job summary

District Electric Dept. in Truckee, CA is seeking a Journeyman Lineman to build, operate and maintain power systems both overhead and underground. You will install, test, and commission substations and switching devices while following safety rules and district policies.

The role includes on-call duties, after-hours responses, and the opportunity to mentor apprentices. A Class A CDL and CPR/First Aid certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required and electrical lineman apprenticeship completed.
• Ability to read plans, blueprints, and construction documents.
• Familiarity with safety standards and OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Constructs and maintains primary and secondary overhead and underground electrical systems.
• Installs poles, transformers, capacitors, reclosers, switches, and other electrical equipment.
• Performs switching and operations for electrical line equipment for construction.
• Installs electric service lines and metering on customer facilities.
• Reads voltages/currents using test equipment and uses live line tools with safety gear.
• Drives and operates utility vehicles and equipment; responds to outages and after-hours calls.
• Participates in on-call rotation and provides on-the-job training as needed.
• Ensures timely and cost-efficient completion of repairs; maintains positive relationships with coworkers and the public.
• Uses GIS mapping, Tunet, Email and work order systems; adheres to core values of Safety and Integrity.
