Job description

Overview

The Power Inverter Module Innovation Leader will be responsible for the activities related to power electronics components (i.e., inverters, converters, and charging devices) designs and development. This position requires subject matter expertise on related power electronics topics and follows the corporate Technology Readiness Level (TRL) process. The role ensures and documents aligned requirements, makes assessments on the technology, and collaborates with Stellantis (STLA) internal production, Program Management Organization (POM), advanced purchasing, cost engineering, power electronics suppliers, and testing labs to ensure requirements and specifications are followed, as well as industry best practice design features and processes are implemented. It requires design experience, understanding of component hardware circuitry and failure modes, and understanding of the manufacturing process.

Additionally, this position will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation outlining best practices supporting STLA's internal continuous improvement initiatives and the development of product technology roadmaps.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design and development of power electronics components (inverters, converters, charging devices) with emphasis on reliability and manufacturability.
  • Apply TRL processes to assess and document technology readiness and aligned requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (production, POM, purchasing, cost engineering) and external suppliers and testing labs to ensure compliance with requirements, specifications, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain documentation that supports continuous improvement initiatives and product technology roadmaps.
  • Interface with customers and cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization.
Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Mechatronics / Systems / Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in high voltage/high power/electric vehicle environments, power electronics/electrical models, and simulation
  • 3+ years of Power Inverter/Traction Inverter development experience
  • Demonstrable familiarity with power electronics and devices
  • Understanding of engineering protocols, design specifications, and standards
  • Understanding of component hardware circuitry and failure modes
  • Strong knowledge of applications engineering and product design/development in an automotive context
  • Working knowledge of DVP&R and DFMEA
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with power electronics analysis and simulation tools
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to collaborate within a team and interface with customers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines
  • Task-oriented, detail-oriented, and accurate in work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
  • Power electronics expertise in electric motor and powertrain controls
  • PCB design and fabrication experience
  • Semiconductor manufacturing knowledge
