Job summary

Stellantis in Auburn Hills, Michigan seeks a senior engineer to drive semiconductor sourcing for propulsion and EV powertrain electronics. You will collaborate with HW/SW architecture, safety engineers and purchasing to ensure components meet performance, reliability and cost targets.

You will propose MCU/MPU, PMIC, SiC/GaN power devices, CAN/LIN/Ethernet transceivers, and drive the roadmap for STLA Propulsion controllers while leading RFI/RFQ processes in a cross-functional agile team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics, Telecommunication, or equivalent Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive embedded electronics designs or hardware/system architecture.
  • Knowledge/Experience of propulsion and battery domain ECU design, development, and testing.
  • Strong teamwork spirit; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently in a global team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Specialized in selecting and recommending next generation semiconductor solutions for centralized electronic brains that power propulsion.
  • Collaborate with vehicle architecture/system design, safety engineering and purchasing to ensure components meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
  • Recommend application-specific electronic components (MCU/MPU, SBC/PMIC, Power FETs, CAN/LIN & Ethernet) for EV propulsion and charging.
  • Benchmark new semiconductor technology and integrate into the STLA Propulsion product roadmap.
  • Lead semiconductor sourcing (RFI/RFC/RFQ) from requirements capture to supplier shortlisting.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and AEC-Q100 safety standards.
  • Support HW Engineering during design phases, system architecture definitions and ECU development.
  • Drive HW architecture decisions for the STLA Propulsion Controller system to deliver scalable, cost-optimized platforms.
  • Collaborate in a Scaled Agile product delivery team with cross-functional peers.

The main job responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Specialized in selecting and recommending next generation semiconductor solution for centralized electronic brains that control electric, internal combustion and Hybrid vehicle powertrains (traction inverters, battery management, and DC-DC converters) and ensuring high-quality, seamless integration with vehicle technology.
  • This role involves working closely with vehicle Architecture/system Design (HW/SW), safety engineer & Buyer/purchasing ensuring that the chosen components meet the performance, reliability, and cost (QCTP) requirements of the applications.
  • Technical expertise in recommending and proposing the application specific (Propulsion) critical electronic components such as MCU/MPU, SBC/PMIC, Power FETs (SiC, GaN.), LSD/HSD/H-bridge etc., Power line communication (PLC) for EV charging application and other communication transceivers (CAN, LIN & Ethernet) etc...
  • Benchmarking the new semiconductor technology and introduce in STLA Propulsion product roadmap.
  • Specialized in leading the semiconductor Sourcing process (RFI/RFC/RFQ)àFrom Technical requirements capture to until supplier technical assessment/shortlist.
  • Familiarity with relevant automotive safety, security and quality standards, such as ISO 26262 and AEC-Q100.
  • Work proactively with silicon vendor partners to drive design features and technology road map.
  • Support HW Engineering group during advanced design phases, system architecture definitions and ECU development / Qualifications.
  • Drive the HW architecture decision for the next generation STLA Propulsion Controller system/hardware architecture, taking consideration of key KPIs that deliver scalable, reusable and cost optimized platforms.
  • Collaborate in a Scaled Agile product delivery team, comprised of cross-functional company peers to continuously prioritize, refine, and deploy component.
  • Understand Stellantis Propulsion domain team requirements, project milestones, technology relevance.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronics, Telecommunication, or equivalent Engineering
  • A minimum 5 years of experience in automotive embedded electronics designs or hardware/system architecture role
  • Knowledge/Experience of propulsion and battery domain ECU design, development, and testing.
  • Strong teamwork spirit; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently in a global team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in industrial or automotive (preferred) area (TIER1, TIER2)
  • Experience in Power electronics and EV application.
  • Knowledge of safety standards including ISO 26262, Euro NAP, and Security regulations
  • Solid understanding of embedded electronics design constraints at the component and system level.
