Job summary

City Utilities in Missouri seeks a Power System Operator/Dispatcher to control generation and monitor tie lines to meet Southwest Power Pool demands, ensuring safe, reliable power delivery. You will operate the EMS, follow NERC standards, and coordinate closely with field personnel in a high-stakes control room environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field preferred.
• Two years of college or vocational courses in electricity/electric power systems.
• Power System Operator/Dispatcher training completed within one year of employment.
• NERC BIT Operator certification required.

Responsibilities

• Operate EMS to maintain reliability of the bulk electric system.
• Follow NERC standards and maintain BIT certification.
• Monitor load and voltage; adjust outputs with generation stations as needed.
• Coordinate with SP P and reliability coordinator; issue notices in a timely manner.
• Perform high-voltage switching and report outages to the Reliability Coordinator.
• Prepare monthly operational reports and maintain daily logs.
