City Utilities seeks a Power System Operator/Dispatcher to control generation and monitor transmission systems, ensuring safe, continuous service. The role requires NERC BIT certification, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts.

Competenze

• High school graduate; a bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field is required.
• Two years of college or vocational/technical courses in electricity/electric power systems preferred.
• NERC Operator Certification at BIT level required.

Mansioni

• Learn and follow NERC reliability standards; maintain BIT certification.
• Operate EMS to maintain reliability and restore power during disturbances.
• Monitor load, voltage, and coordinate with generating stations as needed.
• Monitor SPP marketplace interfaces and notify status changes timely.
• Coordinate unit connections/disconnections with station personnel and Reliability Coordinator.
• Report problems with energy management systems to appropriate staff.
• Ensure safe switching and report transmission outages to SPP.
