Kimley-Horn's Westlake, Texas office is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join our Power Generation team. You will support or lead mechanical design for natural gas and coal-fired plants, develop piping systems, review P&IDs, and ensure drawings and specifications meet project needs.

This role emphasizes collaboration with clients, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering cost estimates and schedules while upholding quality standards across project phases, including

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in power generation mechanical design.
• Experience with natural gas/coal-fired plants preferred.
• PE license or relevant mechanical engineering degree recommended.
• Strong understanding of lifecycle, feasibility studies, and owners’ engineer roles.
• Experience coordinating with clients and ensuring project quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support mechanical design for power generation projects.
• Engineer piping, pumps, and valves; develop P&IDs.
• Specify instrumentation and tank/ vessel sizing for projects.
• Prepare cost estimates, work plans, and schedules; evaluate methods.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with clients; uphold quality across project phases.
• Support air quality control and effluent guideline related work.
