Job description

Power Electronics Validation Engineer

12+ Months of long-term contract with high possibility of extension

$50-$65 Hourly on W2.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop test plans, validation procedures, and documentation to ensure functional and performance compliance, taking full ownership of the assigned task.
2. Design, model, simulate power electronics systems.
3. Design prototypes, debug, and perform fault analysis for power electronic systems hardware (Inverters/converters), and optimize.
4. Collaborate with design engineers to ensure smooth transition from design to validation and production.
5. Work with mechanical, PCB layout, and firmware engineers to develop and validate designs.
6. Utilize laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal cameras, etc.) for detailed analysis and root cause investigations.
7. Perform design validation under various operating conditions (temperature, voltage, load profile, EMI/EMC).
8. Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams for design for testability (DFT) and design for manufacturing (DFM).
9. Maintain safety protocols during high-voltage testing activities.

Required Qualifications:

1. Hands-on experience with converter/inverter prototyping, test benches, and debugging.
2. Strong understanding of DC-DC converters, AC-DC inverters, magnetics, and control algorithms.
3. Proficiency with lab instruments and data acquisition tools.
4. Familiarity with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or LTspice.
5. Experience with standards and compliance (UL, IEC, ISO) for power electronics systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience with automated test systems.
2. Knowledge of EMI/EMC testing, thermal design, and environmental validation.
3. Understanding of embedded systems and microcontroller-based converter control.
