Job summary

Applied Engineering in Wisconsin seeks an Electrical Design Engineer specializing in power electronics and thermal systems. You will join a team focused on high‑quality work, skill development, and career growth, with a hybrid schedule and travel to Faribault, MN as needed.

Responsibilities include electrical design, modeling, CFD/CFX cooling analysis, and collaboration with suppliers to improve manufacturability and performance of high‑power assemblies.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 4+ years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience with electrical design, modeling, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of power conversion theory and high‑power systems.
  • Familiarity with sustained engineering and ECR processes.

Responsibilities

  • Drive cost savings, margin improvement, and design enhancements across electrical systems.
  • Perform electrical design, modeling, and analysis for new and existing products.
  • Apply power conversion theory to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Design and analyze power-electronics systems including IGBT topologies.
  • Develop high-frequency busbar designs and topology improvements.
  • Support R&D and engineering initiatives from concept through early design.
  • Conduct CFD/CFX analysis to evaluate cooling and thermal performance.
  • Design and validate cooling strategies for high-power assemblies.
  • Contribute to sustaining engineering and cost-reduction projects.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to improve manufacturability.
