Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Seattle, WA is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer I to join the POWER Electronics team supporting the NEXT EPS for Prime Air drones. You will design, develop, and validate high-power power electronics boards from concept to production, focusing on HV DC systems and robust fault-tolerant hardware.

You will contribute to schematics, board bring-up, test plans for DO-160/DO-274, and cross-functional design reviews, ensuring safety, EMC and reliability as the EPS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with multi-layer power electronics PCB layout and design.
  • 1+ years of experience working on high-voltage DC power systems.
  • Experience developing power electronics boards from concept through production.
  • Proficiency with power electronics design tools (Altium, OrCAD, ECAD tools, MATLAB/Simulink).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test multi-layer power electronics boards from concept through production.
  • Support schematics development, PCB layout, prototyping, DFM, board bring-up testing, BOMs, and documentation.
  • Support development of test plans that validate designs against DO-160 and DO-274 standards, ensuring EMC, environmental resilience, and functional safety.
  • Create and maintain high-quality design documentation including schematics, specifications, analysis reports, and test results.
  • Conduct design reviews with teammates and cross-functional teams.
  • Apply system-level thinking to power electronics subsystems within the product architecture.
