Job summary

Helion seeks a power electronics engineer to design, build, and test high‑voltage pulsed‑power systems for its fusion machine in Everett, WA. You will own critical HV subsystems and drive hardware bring‑up from concept to operation in a fast, small team.

Responsibilities include controls, protection, HV pulsed‑power design, and high‑efficiency power‑conversion hardware. Candidates should have strong EE fundamentals and hands‑on lab skills.

Qualifications

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Experience designing and building power electronics from schematic through bring-up.
• Solid grounding in switching topologies, devices, magnetics, thermal design, and loss analysis.
• Proficiency with PCBA design and circuit simulation.
• Strong hands-on lab skills with oscilloscopes and DMMs.
• Comfort with hardware‑firmware boundary; EtherCAT and FPGA familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Controls & protection for the power stage; design low‑voltage electronics and EtherCAT‑networked control boards.
• High voltage & pulsed power; design, build, and commission capacitor banks, switching, triggering, and protection.
• Power electronics design; develop converters, chargers, and energy‑recovery circuits for scalable systems.
