Job summary

Helion in Everett, WA is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to define electrical hardware powering our next-generation fusion machines. You will work at the architecture level, shaping power distribution, controls interfaces, sensors, and communications to form a coherent, reliable platform.

Responsibilities include requirements management, ICDs, verification planning, and hands-on hardware bring-up, collaborating with electrical, controls, mechanical, and test teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical systems engineering, integration, test, or hardware development.
  • Experience contributing to system/subsystem architecture and interactions.
  • Experience developing and managing ICDs and technical requirements.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and interconnect documentation.
  • Hands-on hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with cross-disciplinary teams (electrical, controls, mechanical, test).
  • Strong documentation and communication skills; ability to capture interfaces and decisions.
  • Experience with suppliers or external partners to define requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the architecture and design of electrical subsystems aligned with machine requirements.
  • Define, maintain, and manage system/subsystem requirements with traceability.
  • Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for interfaces with subsystems and suppliers.
  • Support verification planning, execution, and testing activities.
  • Hands-on hardware bring-up and debugging across electrical, controls, and mechanical domains.
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, mechanical, and test teams to ensure correct integration.
  • Support integration of new hardware during development and commissioning.
  • Contribute to system documentation and engineering processes.
