Job summary

American Power Innovations is seeking a Product Design Engineer to lead the electrical portion of modular power distribution centers (PDCs). You will develop electrical and mechanical drawings, BOMs, and process procedures with support from a mechanical engineer, contributing to new product and growth goals.

The ideal candidate has hands-on design experience, strong CAD skills (2D/3D), NEC knowledge, and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters in electrical engineering required.
Experience in industrial electrical design and project-level engineering.
Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD; AutoCAD LT preferred.
NEC (NFPA 70) proficiency preferred; UL/CUL standards understanding.

Responsibilities

Create engineering drawings, BOMs, and assemblies from conception to production with minimal supervision.
Plan schedules with Program Management and report progress to upper management.
Determine product specifications with sales/customers for new or modified products.
Design products with calculations to meet specifications.
Develop PDC layouts and interconnecting diagrams per NEC requirements.
Create raceway/conductor schedules and conduit sizing per NEC.
Design panelboard layouts aligning with NEC requirements.
Collaborate with engineers and lead meetings to update timelines.
