Job summary

Mortenson in Minneapolis, MN seeks an Assistant Supply Chain Manager - Power to lead procurement for the Power Delivery group. You will guide project buyers, optimize supplier relationships, and ensure materials and equipment meet schedule and budget requirements across substations, wind systems, and transmission lines.

You will partner with project leadership, engineering, and external vendors to drive cost-effective sourcing while complying with contractual and risk standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management, or related discipline or equivalent training/experience.
• 7+ years of progressive supply chain experience in construction, procurement, or related fields.
• Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and ability to translate problems into actions.
• Excellent communication across diverse stakeholders and teams.
• Proven leadership in hiring, coaching, and mentoring teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with project teams to align supply chain strategies with goals and timelines.
• Develop and implement packaging strategies to improve cost, delivery, and risk.
• Lead commercial reviews and negotiations; ensure contract terms align with flow-down requirements.
• Coordinate with Legal, Operations, and Risk to uphold compliance and insurance requirements.
• Build strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and productivity.
• Coach and develop the Buyer team; manage workload and performance.
• Monitor industry trends and critical equipment lead times; support project proposals and pricing.
• Oversee material planning with buyers to ensure timely delivery for schedules.
