Job summary

GE Vernova in Findlay Township, PA invites eager engineering students for a Power Conversion co-op/internship. You will contribute to electrical power conversion systems for naval, industry, marine, and Oil & Gas applications, learning about MV/LV converters, motors, transformers, E-house, switchgear, and control as well as the associated power systems engineering.

The role emphasizes safety, modeling, and software development using MATLAB, Python, and CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an engineering program with a focus on Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering.
• Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship for an unlimited time.
• Experience with coding or programming tools.
• Experience with MATLAB or similar software (Python, C++, etc).
• Experience with CAD/CAE tools like AUTOCAD, ANSYS, CREO.

Responsibilities

• Learn to ensure safety, quality, and value in designs and practices.
• Prepare/review detailed technical specifications for control of large power converters.
• Develop and deliver base software package for project configurations.
• Learn to create models of power electronic controls for PSS and stability studies.
• Learn HMI/Control/Process coding and test planning.
• Learn to use offline/real-time models of the electrical power plant and propose improvements.
• Assist in managing software design processes for power converters.
• Study power converter software, specifications, and hardware drawings to meet requirements.
