Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering Group in Lenexa, KS seeks an experienced Commissioning Engineer to represent electrical commissioning from estimating through project completion. You will draft procedures, support onsite with major milestones, and coordinate with SMEs for various technologies and disciplines.

The role involves reviewing electrical design deliverables, reporting issues to the Commissioning Manager and Director, and working with the onsite commissioning team to ensure safe, timely startup

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of related experience in Power Plants, Substations, or Renewable Energy.
• Familiar with protective relays, electrical control, and protection schemes.
• Familiar with IEEE Testing standards.
• Must be able familiar with NFPA 70E and demonstrate safe electrical troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Design Review for Power, Power Delivery, and Renewable Projects.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests for Electrical Equipment (MV, LV Switchgears, Transformers, Relay Panels, etc.).
• Develop Electrical Initial Energization Procedures (Switchyard, Back-feed, Switchgears, Initial Synch, etc.).
• Travel to project site for short duration as needed to carry out audit, review energization plan, and assist with major energization evolution if needed.
• Work with projects start-up team with onsite activities such as the following if needed.
• Familiarity with component testing and commissioning aspects of following major electrical equipment & protection scheme will be an added advantage: 220KV, 345KV Breakers; MV & LV Switchgears and MCCs; CTs, PTs, CVTs, and one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control & protection schematics.
