Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Commissioning & Startup Engineer to support pre-commissioning through turnover for major industrial facilities across North America. The role blends field execution with engineering leadership, offering exposure to electrical and mechanical systems in fast-paced projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in commissioning/startup, strong problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 5+ years supporting commissioning, startup, operations, or similar roles.
• Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Proven ability to work with field teams, vendors, and project leadership.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and relocate to North American project sites.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and execution of pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and turnover activities for major facilities.
• Collaborate with construction, engineering, operations, vendors, and commissioning teams to achieve system readiness milestones.
• Participate in system walkdowns, punch list development, and readiness assessments.
• Develop and execute commissioning procedures, startup plans, test scripts, and turnover documentation.
• Support functional testing, IST, and operational readiness activities.
• Maintain commissioning records, test documentation, redlines, and turnover packages.
