Job summary

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and data analysts to gather, interpret, and refine requirements for reports, visualizations, and data models.
• Identify and evaluate relevant data sources and attributes for reporting needs.
• Reverse engineer and optimize existing business user-developed analyses, Excel formulas, and pivot tables to improve efficiency.
• Design and document conceptual, logical, and physical data models, implementing row and column-level security within Power BI.
• Develop reusable semantic data models in Power BI, ensuring best practices in modeling and DAX.
• Establish and optimize relationships between tables and data structures.
• Connect Power BI to a variety of data sources (e.g., APIs, Big Query, ArcGIS, SQL, Excel, streaming datasets) and collaborate with integration teams for seamless data extraction and transformation.
• Write advanced DAX formulas, calculated columns, and measures for custom calculations.
• Create interactive, visually appealing Power BI reports and dashboards, incorporating advanced visuals, drill-throughs, and streaming data.
• Optimize report performance using tools such as DAX Studio and Power BI s built-in performance features.
• Publish and manage reports in Power BI Service, including access controls, refresh schedules, and performance optimization for large datasets.
• Leverage AI tools and technologies (including Google AI tools, if possible) to enhance data analysis workflows.
• Adhere to organizational source and version control practices for Power BI files, utilizing Azure DevOps as needed.
• Communicate complex technical concepts and data insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders and business users.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, prepare meetings, conduct working sessions, and adapt to changing requirements.
• Previous experience working with state clients is required.
