Overview

Power BI Developer position at Insight Global in Irvine, CA. This role supports a high-impact, enterprise-wide cloud migration initiative. The Senior Power BI Developer will design and develop complex, performance-optimized dashboards in Power BI, migrate legacy reports from SSRS, Business Objects and Tableau, and educate business users who are new to Power BI. This is a 6–12 month contract, onsite at the Irvine location, ideally three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced Power BI dashboards with a focus on performance and usability.
• Lead the migration of reports from SSRS, Business Objects, and Tableau to Power BI.
• Collaborate with business users to understand reporting needs and translate those needs into scalable data models and visualizations.
• Educate and mentor business users on Power BI best practices to promote self‑sufficiency.
• Propose and implement data‑modeling strategies to support dashboard development.
• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure data readiness and performance optimization.
• Communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders in a clear and approachable manner.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 5+ years of hands‑on Power BI development experience with a portfolio of complex dashboards.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and data‑modeling techniques.
• Experience with Tableau and ability to assist in transitioning users from Tableau to Power BI.
• Familiarity with SSRS, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, or Alteryx is a plus.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and teaching skills; ability to work with business users of varying technical skill levels.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, enterprise environment.
