As a Powder Coating Specialist, you will play a critical role in the final finishing process, applying premium powder coatings to fabricated metal products and ensuring each part meets visual, durability, and customer specification standards before curing. This position offers steady work, a dependable production environment, and the opportunity to take ownership of an important finishing function. The work environment is known for stability, hands-on training, trusted employees, simple hours, and a strong work-life balance. Team members can expect supportive, hands-off leadership once quality standards are proven, along with a culture that values reliability, craftsmanship, attendance, and consistent performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply powder coatings to fabricated metal parts using electrostatic spray equipment on a continuously moving conveyor line.
  • Inspect incoming materials and pre-treated surfaces to confirm parts are clean, dry, properly prepared, and ready for coating.
  • Maintain required mil thickness ranges based on powder type, customer specifications, and work order requirements.
  • Perform color changes and thorough clean-outs of spray booths, hoppers, and powder guns to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Conduct routine equipment checks and minor preventative maintenance, including nozzles, grounding, and powder flow troubleshooting.
  • Monitor finished coating quality and serve as a final quality checkpoint before parts enter the curing ovens.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay: $20.00 to $26.00 per hour.
  • Job Type: Direct hire.
  • Location: Richardson, TX.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Company life insurance policy reported at $50,000.
  • Annual bonuses based on performance and attendance.
  • Paid time off, with vacation reportedly starting at one week per year for newer employees.
  • Stable work environment with a strong work-life balance and dependable paycheck.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Operate electrostatic powder coating equipment in a conveyor line production environment.
  • Apply consistent powder coverage while maintaining proper spray distance, angle, pacing, and mil thickness.
  • Inspect parts before coating and verify finished quality before curing.
  • Perform booth, gun, and hopper clean-outs during color or product changeovers.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional powder coating experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Proven hands-on experience working directly with a continuously moving conveyor belt system is required.
  • Ability to read and follow basic manufacturing work orders, customer specifications, and coating requirements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor powder flow, grounding, or equipment issues.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 100 pounds as needed.
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment with loud noise, airborne powder, temperature changes, and proximity to curing ovens.
  • Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirator, safety glasses, and protective suit.
  • Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong sense of craftsmanship, quality, and ownership over finished work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high-volume fabricated metal products.
  • Familiarity with multiple powder types, color change procedures, and contamination prevention practices.
  • Experience performing basic preventative maintenance on powder coating equipment.
  • Prior success in a quality-focused manufacturing environment where production pace and finish consistency are critical.
