Job summary

The Powder Coating Operator is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal parts in a manufacturing environment. This position requires attention to detail, knowledge of powder coating processes, and the ability to follow work instructions and quality standards. The operator will prepare parts for coating, operate powder coating equipment, inspect finished products, and maintain a safe and organized work area.

Job Duties
  • Prepare metal parts and surfaces for powder coating.
  • Clean, mask, hang, and position parts prior to coating.
  • Operate powder coating equipment, spray guns, and related tools.
  • Apply powder coating evenly and according to established specifications.
  • Adjust equipment and coating settings as needed to achieve proper coverage and finish.
  • Inspect coated parts for proper coverage, thickness, color, defects, and overall quality.
  • Identify and correct issues such as uneven coating, runs, contamination, or poor coverage.
  • Follow work instructions, blueprints, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Handle parts safely throughout the coating and curing process.
  • Operate ovens and monitor curing processes according to established requirements.
  • Perform touch-ups, rework, and other finishing tasks as needed.
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing or production training is beneficial.
Experience Requirements
  • Ability to work safely in manufacturing and production environments.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions, production procedures, and quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain productivity and consistent quality.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely operate basic production equipment when required.
  • Dependable attendance, teamwork, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, production, warehouse, or industrial experience is preferred.
  • Experience operating production equipment, performing quality inspections, or meeting production goals is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement practices, or workplace safety procedures is considered an asset.
  • Individuals who demonstrate reliability, adaptability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are well positioned for success as a Powder Coating Operator.
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive production tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift materials, components, or finished products weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate around production equipment and moving machinery.
  • Ability to maintain productivity while working in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

What You Will Do

As a Powder Coating Operator you will support daily manufacturing operations by assembling products, operating production equipment, inspecting finished goods, packaging materials, maintaining production standards, and following established work instructions. You will help keep production areas clean and organized, monitor product quality, meet production goals, and contribute to safe, efficient manufacturing operations.
