Job Summary
A pourer is responsible for safely pouring molten aluminum into molds according to established production procedures and quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a high-temperature industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate melting and pouring equipment to transfer molten aluminum into molds safely and accurately.
- Skim dross and remove impurities from molten aluminum before pouring.
- Control pouring speed and metal flow to produce high-quality castings and minimize defects.
- Inspect castings during and after pouring for visible defects and report quality concerns.
- Assist with furnace charging using aluminum ingots, returns, and scrap materials according to alloy specifications.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of pouring equipment and work areas.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and cleaning of foundry equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work in high-temperature environments.
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including heat-resistant clothing, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
- Manufacturing/foundry environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, molten metal, and moving machinery.
Details
- Pay: $20-22/hr to start, depending on experience
- Shift: 1st shift, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM (8.5 hrs on site, 30 min unpaid lunch)
- Contract position with a direct-hire opportunity after 520 hours
