Job summary

aviagen in Alabama is seeking a Poultry Specialist to supervise all aspects of contract farms, ensure animal welfare, biosecurity, and health & safety, and assist with placements, vaccinations, and disinfection.

The role requires a BS in Poultry Science or related field (preferred), basic computer skills, strong communication and organizational abilities, and willingness to work flexible hours including some weekends; current drivers license and 2 years poultry experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Poultry Science or related field (preferred).
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to calculate feed, manage and weigh birds, prioritize work schedules, solve problems relating to growth, performance, etc.
• Ability to work flexible hours including some weekends - on call 24 hours a day.
• Must be self-motivated with ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
• Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Team-oriented.
• Current driver's license.
• Two years of poultry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervising all aspects of contract farms.
• Resolving contract grower conflicts.
• Biosecurity, strain security, animal welfare, and health & safety are major responsibilities.
• Assisting with placements, vaccinations, and disinfection.
• May perform other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor.
