Be a part of a world-class academic health-caresystem at UChicago Medicine, Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Neurophysiology Technicianat our Harvey, Illinois location.

In the Neuro Tech role you are under the direction of the Lead Technologist of Neurophysiology. The Neuro Tech performs all phases of EEGs including routine inpatient and outpatient EEGs; ICU and CCU tracings; cerebral death recordings; 24-hour ambulatory EEG recordings; Prolonged Video/EEG recordings; prolonged seizure recordings; tests with additional leads, or additional activations, or additional medication procedures. The Neuro Tech assists and/or performs Nerve Conduction Studies (NCV), and assists the Neurologist performing Electromyography (EMG) studies. Knows, follows and actively supports the philosophy, mission and vision of Ingalls Hospital. Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures and standards of care. Observes and adheres to all corporate compliance requirements and communicates issues as they arise to the appropriate personnel as identified in the Corporate Compliance Plan.

Essential Job Functions

  • Complies with departmental standards for obtaining high technical quality recordings by minimizing artifact, documentation of all significant events,and inspection of the data collected for abnormalities that would require immediate attention and/or physician notification.
  • Assists in efficient operation of the department by meeting productivity standards, as defined by the department policies.
  • Accountable for the appropriate use of department and hospital resources.
  • Accountable for compliance with the billing practices, as defined by the department protocol.
  • Maintains responsibilities for attendance and punctuality per hospital policy
  • Actively participates in providing suggestions to the Department Lead
  • Technologist in order to improve daily operations and employee satisfaction.
  • Actively identifies and suggests opportunities to serve better.
  • Actively seeks, suggests, and promotes cost effective practices.
  • Demonstrates a solution oriented approach towardproblem solving.

Required Qualifications

  • Preferably an Associate/Bachelor of Arts or Associate/Bachelor of Science Degree, or equivalent, and/or a Certificate in Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technology from an accredited program, completed or in progress.
  • BLS through the American Heart Assocaition
  • Individuals seeking to acquire credentials of Registered EEG Technologist, Registered Evoked Potential Technologist, Certified in Neurophysiological Intraoperative Monitoring Technologist or Registered Polysomnography Technologist.
  • Upon completion of requirements to receive Registered status, the employee’s professional title & position will be changed to Neurophysiology Technologist (Level 2).
  • Preferred one year of health-careexperience in a related field, i.e., EEG, EP, EMG, Sleep, IOM.
  • Physical/Position Demands: Must possess the required ability/energy to stand, walk, and lift regularly. Must be able to move large, bulky equipment throughout the hospital. Must be able to routinely assist patients by 1) positioning of patients on a bed, 2) assisting from cart/wheelchair to bed, etc.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
