Job summary

DECCO Italia s.r.l. seeks a Technical Advisor to provide expert guidance in postharvest handling of citrus, stone, and vegetable crops.

You will work with growers, packers, and shippers to optimize product quality, coordinate field trials, and develop treatment recommendations. You will collaborate with Commercial and R&D teams to advance strategic initiatives, monitor pathogens, and ensure proper use of Decco products across the CSV value chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science, Pathology, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience related to producing, processing, handling, and/or treatment of fruit and vegetables.
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office programs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Have or are able to obtain Pest Control Advisor’s license from California DPR within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Advisor: Responsible for advising stakeholders on the proper use of Decco products focused on protecting fruit and vegetable quality during the postharvest process.
• Technical Expert: Achieve expert status on known pathogens and optimum control methods; continuously improve postharvest handling practices.
• Biological Testing: Prepare and properly utilize fungicide amended PDA plates to monitor pathogen activity and measure pesticide resistance levels; analyze results to make treatment recommendations.
• Collaboration: Interact with colleagues, customers, universities, and industry experts to stay current and support business opportunities.
• Innovation: Focus on continuous improvement of products, applications, and handling practices; seek solutions for customer and organizational needs.
• Training/Teaching/Presenting: Share knowledge with colleagues and customers; conduct 1-on-1 or group presentations.
• Trials/Tests: Coordinate lab testing and field trials with R&D and commercial teams.
