Job summary

DECCO Postharvest in Ventura County is seeking a Technical Advisor to provide field-based technical support to citrus, stone fruits and vegetables across the value chain, including growers, packers and shippers. You will coordinate field trials, develop treatment recommendations, and support postharvest handling practices to maximize fruit and vegetable quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science, Pathology, Agronomy or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience in producing, processing, handling, and/or treatment of fruit and vegetables.
• Experience conducting research and trials on agricultural commodities.
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office programs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain Pest Control Advisor license from California DPR within 12 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Advisor: Advise stakeholders on proper use of Decco products to protect fruit and vegetable quality.
• Technical Expert: Achieve expert status on known pathogens of fruit and vegetables and optimal control methods.
• Biological Testing: Prepare and utilize fungicide amended PDA plates to monitor pathogens and resistance.
• Collaboration: Interact with colleagues, customers, universities, and industry experts to share insights and opportunities.
• Innovation: Continuously improve products, applications, and handling practices to meet customer needs.
• Training/Teaching/Presenting: Share knowledge through 1-on-1 and group sessions.
• Trials/Tests: Coordinate lab testing and field trials with R&D and commercial teams.
