Job summary

DECCO Postharvest in Visalia, CA is seeking a Technical Advisor to support the CSV value chain with expert guidance on producing, storing, handling and processing of fruits and vegetables. You will lead field trials, provide treatment recommendations, collaborate with R&D and Commercial teams, and ensure proper protocols are followed to maximize fruit quality and postharvest performance.

Requires a Bachelor's in Plant Science or related field, 4+ years of relevant experience, and a Pest Control

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science, Pathology, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience related to producing, processing, handling, and/or treatment of fruit and vegetables
• Experience conducting research and trials on agriculturalcommodities
• Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office programs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Have or are able to obtain Pest Control Advisor’s license from California DPR within 12 months of hire date

Responsibilities

• Advisor: Responsible for advising stakeholders on the proper use of Decco products focused on protecting fruit and vegetable quality during the postharvest process.
• Technical Expert: Achieve expert status on pathogens of fruit and vegetables and their control methods; continuously improve postharvest handling knowledge.
• Biological Testing: Prepare and utilize fungicide amended PDA plates to monitor pathogen activity and pesticide resistance levels.
• Collaboration: Interact with colleagues and customers, communicate clearly, listen, and incorporate inputs from others; collaborate with university and industry experts.
• Innovation: Seek opportunities to provide solutions for customer and organizational needs.
• Training/Teaching/Presenting: Share knowledge of treatment and handling practices with colleagues and customers.
• Trials/Tests: Coordinate with R&D and commercial teams to conduct lab testing and field trials.
