Job summary

Cloudflare in New York is seeking a Systems Engineer to scale and manage PostgreSQL infrastructure across multi-region deployments. You will automate operations, improve reliability, and contribute to database tooling and performance tuning.

You will collaborate with database, infrastructure, and dev teams to build resilient systems, implement HA/DR, and advance observability with Prometheus/Grafana. Experience with Terraform and containerization is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience building and scaling large multi-tenant PostgreSQL clusters with HA and DR.
• Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, Ansible, or Salt).
• Scripting in Python or Bash for automation.
• Building and maintaining database tooling for automation/monitoring.
• Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Optimizing database performance and query tuning.
• Experience with alerting/monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and manage PostgreSQL database clusters in production environments.
• Develop and maintain database tooling for automation, monitoring and performance tuning.
• Implement high availability, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Work closely with Infra and Applications teams to integrate database tools.
• Implement proactive solutions using observability tools to monitor database health.
• Optimize database performance, indexing strategies, and query tuning.
