We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize mission-critical PostgreSQL databases. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and security while supporting development and production environments across multiple systems.

The Role
Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL database servers in production and non-production environments.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies (query optimization, indexing, partitioning, etc.).
  • Design and manage database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
  • Implement replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Manage user access, security policies, and encryption to maintain compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support schema design, query optimization, and database deployment automation.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide 24x7 on-call support when required.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to database architecture, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, including WAL, replication, and partitioning.
  • Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
  • Proficiency with PL/pgSQL, functions, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Familiarity with tools such as pgAdmin, pgBackRest, Patroni, pgBouncer, or pgPool-II.
  • Experience managing databases on AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, or GCP Cloud SQL (preferred).
  • Proficient in Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Working knowledge of database monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with migration from Oracle/MySQL to PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Certifications in PostgreSQL or cloud database administration.
