We are looking for a detail‑oriented and experienced Postgres DBA to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing code and ensuring the quality and performance of software applications. PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) plays a critical role in managing and maintaining PostgreSQL databases within an organization's infrastructure.

In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within O’Fallon, MO is $100K to $120K/year & benefits (see below).

Responsibilities

• Install and configure PostgreSQL database servers on‑premises.
• Optimize database configuration settings for performance and reliability.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement performance tuning measures.
• Use tools and scripts to analyze query performance and recommend optimizations.
• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Regularly review and update security policies and protocols.
• Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime.
• Collaborate with developers and application teams to design efficient database schemas.
• Ensure normalization and indexing strategies are applied for optimal data retrieval.
• Diagnose and resolve database‑related issues and errors.
• Provide support to application developers in optimizing database interactions.
• Document changes made to the database environment and maintain an inventory of databases.
• Recommend hardware upgrades or changes as necessary.
• Ensure databases comply with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in IT industry.
• 7+ years of experience as a DBA utilizing Postgres.
• Monitor database performance and resource usage.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding database status, issues, and plans.
• Capable of installing and configuring PostgreSQL database servers on‑premises.
• Proficient in developing scripts for automation of routine DBA tasks (e.g., backups, monitoring).
• Proficient with UNIX/Linux and shell scripts.
• Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Work closely with development, network, and security teams to ensure database systems align with overall IT strategy.
• Experience in Oracle replication, AWS Redshift, Elasticache, Cassandra (NoSQL), CI/CD – XLR, Jenkins, GIT, Support – ITSM and observability - Dynatrace, Splunk.

Preferred, but not required:

• Work experience in Cassandra.
• Experience in Banking, Finance domain.
