Job summary

Cullman Regional Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Medical Billing Specialist to assist patients with billing inquiries and resolve issues efficiently. You will liaise with external vendors to optimize productivity and manage bankruptcy and estate accounts, ensuring accurate itemized bills and timely refund processing.

Responsibilities include documenting events, posting payments, reconciling deposits, and maintaining high standards of patient safety and service quality in day shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification or experience in medical billing is preferred.
• NAAC certification within one year of hire is expected.

Responsibilities

• Act as liaison between PBO and outside vendors to maximize productivity.
• Process bankruptcy and estate accounts and fulfill itemized bill requests.
• Prepare and file refund requests promptly and accurately.
• Document pertinent events and research prior accounts.
• Post payments and contractual postings; move balances appropriately.
• Balance deposits to Cerner and CPSI; reconcile discrepancies.
• Demonstrate teamwork and promote excellent patient experiences.
• Uphold patient safety and quality standards.

Job Summary:

• Assist patients with billing issues and/or inquires plus work to bring any problems to a favorable resolution.
• Act as liaison between PBO and outside vendors and address issues such that productivity is maximized for both.
• Process bankruptcy and estate accounts and fill requests for itemized bills in a prompt, timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare and file refund requests.
• Accurately and thoroughly document pertinent events regarding the handling of the account including researching prior accounts.
• Post payments and contractual to appropriate patient accounts and move balances to patient balance or secondary insurance as required.
• Balance deposits to Cerner and/or CPSI posting daily and reconciles any discrepancies.
• Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
• Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or experience in medical billing. Will obtain and maintain NAAC certification within one year of hire date.

Experience:

One year working in medical billing. Certification by the National Academy of Ambulance Coding preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities:

Excellent customer service skills and computer skills required. Must be familiar with basic human anatomy.
