Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Appointee – Radio Frequency Phononic Integrated Microsystems, onsite. The role advances RF phononic devices and piezoelectric acoustics, working within the III‑V Optoelectronics Department on national security related technologies.

PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science with strong first-author publications is required, and the candidate must be able to obtain a DOE Level L security

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Level L security clearance.
• Strong record of first-author publications in scientific journals.

Responsibilities

• Advance RF phononic technologies at the intersection of piezoelectric acoustics and signal processing.
• Engineer device physics in heterostructure materials for RF microsystems.
• Design RF phononic devices and oversee related fabrication.
• Develop experiments to study phononic and electron-phonon physics in advanced materials.
• Evaluate device performance in new heterostructure platforms.
• Characterize devices for integration into RF microsystems.
• Communicate research results through publications and conferences.
• Collaborate with physicists, materials scientists, and engineers.
• Lead research efforts and publications as appropriate.
