Qualifications

• PhD in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field required.
• Experience with protein self-assembly and interfaces recommended.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize protocols to assemble purified S-layer proteins into crystals at the air-water interface.
• Clone, overexpress, and purify S-layer proteins in E. coli; engineer secretion-based production systems.
• Analyze lattices with established techniques and prepare samples for collaborators to assess order.
• Meticulously document, analyze, and maintain research data; communicate results in meetings.
• Publish and present findings; assist with grant proposals.
