Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh seeks a Postdoctoral Associate/Fellow to study agentic marketplaces with autonomous AI agents. You will design and test theories, build simulation testbeds, and contribute to publications while collaborating with CMU's Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty.
A PhD in computer science, economics, or a related field with strong ML or algorithmic game theory background is required.

The postdoctoral researcher will study agentic marketplaces, where autonomous AI agents negotiate, transact, and coordinate with one another and with people on behalf of users and businesses. They will develop theoretical and empirical methods to analyze how these agents interact, including emergent strategic behavior, collusion, information leakage, manipulation, and effects on market efficiency and fairness. This will involve building simulation testbeds of LLM-based agents, designing measurement and evaluation frameworks, and drawing on tools from game theory, mechanism design, privacy, and security. The postdoc will lead publications, release open-source code and datasets, and help mentor graduate students.
