Job description

An immediate Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Revathi Govind at Kansas State University, in Manhattan, Kansas. The mission of Dr. Govind's lab is to understand various pathogenic mechanisms of the anaerobic pathogen Clostridioides difficile. More specifically, we are interested in characterizing the interplay between the toxin gene regulatory networks and the sporulation pathways. We apply several omics technologies, such as RNA-Seq, genome sequencing, and proteomics, to dissect the gene regulatory networks and to characterize potential virulence and virulence-regulatory factors.

The successful candidate will investigate the mechanisms by which c-di-GMP controls sporulation, toxin production, and biofilm formation in C. difficile.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants interested in this position should hold a recent PhD degree in Immunology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, or a related area. Technical expertise in various molecular techniques, such as cloning, qRT-PCR, ELISA, protein expression and purification, is required. Experience with ChIP-Seq, protein-protein interaction studies, in vivo models is advantageous. Training in bioinformatic analysis of large datasets, such as RNA-Seq transcriptomics, genomics, and metabolomics, is valuable but not essential.
