Job summary

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. in New York, NY, invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher in the Anacker lab at NYSPI.

The position focuses on in vivo brain imaging in rodent models to study neural circuits underlying stress vulnerability and resilience. Duties include stereotaxic surgeries, fiber implantation, behavioral tasks, optogenetic and chemogenetic manipulations, and in vivo calcium imaging.

Qualifications

  • PhD in neuroscience or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with rodents.
  • Experience with rodent stereotactic brain surgery is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform stereotaxic surgeries for virus injection and fiber implantation.
  • Conduct mouse behavioral experiments using fear generalization and cognitive flexibility tasks.
  • Perform optogenetic and chemogenetic manipulations in freely moving mice.
  • Analyze in vivo Ca2+ imaging data using MATLAB or Python.
  • Contribute to project development, present findings at conferences and publish results.
