Job summary

The New York State Psychiatric Institute seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Anacker lab. The role centers on in vivo brain imaging in rodent models to explore neural circuits linked to stress vulnerability and resilience, employing optogenetic and chemogenetic methods.

You will perform stereotaxic surgeries, run behavioral tasks, and analyze data with MATLAB or Python, contributing to publications. A PhD in neuroscience and rodent work experience are required.

Qualifications

• PhD in neuroscience or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience working with rodents.
• Experience with rodent stereotactic brain surgery for virus injection or fiber implantation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Stereotaxic surgeries for virus injection and fiber implantation in mice.
• Conduct behavioral tasks of fear generalization and cognitive flexibility.
• Use optogenetic and chemogenetic techniques to manipulate circuits in behaving mice.
• Analyze in vivo imaging data using MATLAB or Python; present findings.
