The m7G 5' cap structure of mRNA is one of the defining properties of eukaryotes, yet the evolution of the structure central to protein translation and non-self RNA surveillance has been elusive. This postdoctoral research will be supported by cutting edge research and bioinformatics tools, as well as the expertise of the NEB research community.
