The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to join the Williamson Lab. The project explores coupling of methionine metabolism to RNA modifications on rRNA and tRNA in cancer cells using a multi-omics approach (metabolomics, modomics, RNA-seq, Ribo-seq, proteomics).
Collaborations span the Siuzdak and Green labs and the U01 RNAmodO consortium.
Scripps Research is a nonprofit biomedical institute ranked as one of the most influential in the world for its impact on innovation. We celebrated our 100-year legacy in 2024. If you have a passion for making a difference, this could be your opportunity to join our transformative team.
Postdoctoral Associate
The Williamson Lab has a new project to look at the coupling of methionine metabolism to RNA modifications on rRNA and tRNA in cancer cells. This is an exciting interdisciplinary project involving a multi-omics approach: metabolomics, modomics (RNA mass spectrometry), RNA-seq and Ribo-seq, and proteomics. Candidates with cell biology experience, including cell culture, immunofluorescence, crispR gene knockouts, and chemical biology probing of metabolic pathways are enocouraged to apply. The project involves an interdisciplinary team within the lab, in collaboration with the Siuzdak lab at Scripps, and Rachel Green's lab at Johns Hopkins. The project is part of the U01 RNAmodO consortium supported by the National Cancer Institute.
Must possess a Ph.D., M.D., D. Phil., or equivalent degree from a recognized institution of higher learning. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of the Principal Investigator and Human Resources.
Postdoctoral Associates will be hired following the National Institute of Health and California's exempt salary guidelines, which provide for a starting range of $70,304- $75,353. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
