Job summary

New England Biolabs is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate the origin of RNA 5' caps in diverse biological systems. You will join a collaborative, interdisciplinary team and apply enzymatic and sequencing-based approaches (Illumina, ONT) to push understanding of m7G cap evolution and its role in translation and surveillance.

The position offers a competitive base salary around $74,000, opportunities for publication, and training across a multidisciplinary environment at NEB's Beverly

Qualifications

• Recent Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related field.
• Experience formulating and testing hypotheses using enzymatic and sequencing assays (Illumina, ONT).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
• Record of publishing original scientific research in high-quality journals.
• Strong work ethic, scientific curiosity, creativity, and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct foundational research to identify RNA 5' caps across diverse biological systems.
• Develop and apply enzyme- and sequencing-based assays.
• Present and publish novel findings in scientific journals and at conferences.
• Support the supervision of graduate and undergraduate interns.
