Job description

Position Title: Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell Immunotherapy Postdoctoral Fellowship at NIH

Position Description: One fully funded postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated individual to study cancer immunotherapy at the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute. The position is in the lab of James N. Kochenderfer. Projects will focus on developing new therapies by genetically modifying T cells to express chimeric antigen receptors (CARs). Work on bispecific antibodies is also planned. This position is most suitable for an applicant interested in translational research rather than basic immunology research. A wide variety of activities are carried out by the group including development of new CARs, identifying new CAR targets, and optimizing gene therapy technologies. Techniques used include cellular immunology including flow cytometry, various types of next-generation sequencing, murine models of hematological malignancies, design and construction of new CARs, and clinical trials of T-cell therapies. Ample funding and core laboratory support are available. Applicants must have experience with flow cytometry and working with mice. Experience in T-cell immunology is desirable but not required. Interested candidates must have a doctoral degree with four years or less of postdoctoral experience. A record of publication in immunology, gene therapy, or molecular biology along with good writing and presentation skills are required for selection. This position is subject to a background investigation. This postdoctoral position offers very stable and generous funding from NIH intramural funds.
