Job summary

The New School invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility for the 2027–2028 year, with renewal potential. It seeks scholars whose work engages law and migration, connecting legal questions to mobility studies.

The Fellow will teach Law and Social Change, participate in seminars and public programming, and develop an independent research agenda while collaborating with The New School community in New York City.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent research doctorate completed by start.
• Strong research agenda on migration and mobility, broadly defined.
• Scholarly expertise in law or legal studies demonstrated via publications or training.
• Interest in interdisciplinary scholarship and public-facing life of the Institute.

Responsibilities

• Develop an independent research program and engage in ZIMM seminars, workshops, and public programs.
• Teach Law and Social Change, a foundational undergraduate course for the minor in Law and Social Change.
• Limit additional teaching to up to three courses over the two-year fellowship.
• Begin July 1, 2027.
